  1. I also remember watching “colors” on TV early in the morning before the cartoons started. That would be the test pattern, with its neverending tone.

  2. I noticed this like ten years ago when everyone was urging me to watch Game of Thrones. Some people’s preferred form of escapism seems to be to escape INTO a world where everything is dangerous and terrifying and death lurks around every corner and no one helps each other and everyone is out to fuck everyone else over. I personally don’t get it

  3. That series was started in the ‘90s, when everyone was so safe they were worried about the meaning of it all. 1999 was peak in movies for this: Office Space, American Beauty, American Psycho, Girl Interrupted, The Cell, and of course The Matrix.

  4. Oh god…yeah looking back I’d have to say American Beauty didn’t age well. Imagine how great your life is that you have to INVENT a “midlife crisis” like Kevin Spacey did in that movie. The ultimate first world problems movie

  5. I thought it was an interesting rewatch because when I first watched it I identified with the daughter, but when I watched it recently I identified with the dad. Time changes the perspective.

  6. I don't know. At one point didn't they expect a turn around through the sales of their popcorn? LMAO. Such disruptive technology.

  7. Ach, an old WalMart website account I haven’t used in years got hacked.

  8. You would have to use diplomacy to delay as long as possible.

  9. So basically what I am gathering is “assholes barely survive on this difficulty level, and they don’t win on offense at the beginning at all.” Which makes me feel better.

  10. On a serious note, when the audio of what those guys were saying made the rounds, shit like putting grandma into the poor house because she wants to stay warm, turning off plants to goose rates, etc., people were completely shocked.

  11. This was back in the day where people traded physical shares. The story is that something like 95% of the shares were controlled by two large parties, there were a bunch of others short, and there were a handful of kind of everyday dudes that had a few shares between them. Apparently things got physical on the trading floor as desperate brokers pawed and clawed at these guys to get their shares, and they had to escape for their own safety.

  12. Oh, you are in for a treat down this particular rabbit hole. Capitalism is all sorts of rough and tumble, foibles and stories so insane you wouldn’t buy it in a work of fiction.

  13. Forget hookers, I still can’t believe he bagged Georgina. That is a marvel in and of itself.

  14. Using him for what?, the Chengs don’t make any money from the heist. As far as I’m aware, they wanted revenge not money.

  15. True, lacked a couple of ' I'm shaking' but believable

  16. Now, call me crazy, but if CNPC is right and 2 in 5 Americans are invested in “meme” stocks, and there are ~400 million Americans, that would mean ~80 million people. Right?

  17. Week is over, time to break out the glowsticks and ecstasy

  18. My daughter reports a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream cone that cost $3 last year now costs $8. They only have 5 flavors at her local store too. Her whole party turned away from the place because it was simply ridiculous.

  19. Wait 'till you find out what their definition of "wealthy" is.

  20. If you invested in the Robin Hood IPO, you kinda had what’s coming to you.

  21. I was wondering how Melvin closed his short position if apes DRS’d them?😂💎🙌🦍🚀🌝 He never closed his short, he just closed up his hedge fund business so he can’t answer the phone when marge calls, like his friend Bill

  22. “Closing” a position can mean anything, including transferring the asset or liability to another party.

  23. As an American Muslim, this is like the converse of reality for us. I cant even put on a kufi without some dumbass thinking i am from some foreign country and I want to put a black garbage bag on my wife to protect her from seeing her beauty. The reality for us is the same for you, but just like everything else in America, there is a wall of division created by those who cannot afford you and me to be friends. We would understand too much and realize that we are almost the same in everything and can easily get along and live together in peace. Thats the reality, everything else is just emotions caused by political campaigns, wars and straight up BS that has been played since the crusades. As a Muslim, I tell you with uttmost sincerity, the boogeyman you speak of is no different than the snake charming preachers in your religion. Peace my man, Peace <3

  24. I really don't think Muslims or Orthodox Christians see it that way. Hagia Sophia is a place of great historical importance but it's in no way a vehicle for ecumenism.

  25. Not officially, no, and I know the Pope and the Patriarch had things to say about it being reconsecrated. However, from a secular/cultural perspective, this was my experience.

  26. "The more you own the more you earn" isn't correct. You can compare it to a lottery where the "luck/coincidence" decides if your stake is (partly) used for creating the block. The thing is that your chances to be chosen increases, the bigger your stake is. And THEN your reward is related to the amount of your stake.

  27. Technically true with mining as well, hence mining pools. I’m not familiar, but I expect “staking pools” to be a thing.

  28. I feel like people looking at the current value of the NFT market and lamenting GameStop’s share are missing the whole point.

  29. Ah, that’s right, it has to be already called in. You can tell which one is my vehicle of choice.

  30. Is that truck worh it for sales? I read someone else's post earlier today and they were saying how it's useful.

  31. The gunrunning delivery sometimes spawns the Phantom Wedge. You don’t need to buy it for that.

  32. It just hit me, My favorite NES games are the original Contra and Castlevania, to this day I continue to play them and beat my high scores. Some have asked me why I keep buying Gamestop shares, and if the dd is right one should be all I need. Yes the facts and DD that have been done definitely point to that conclusion, however, it’s not about that with ME PERSONALLY. It’s come to the point that buying more allows me to keep beating my personal Computershare high score!!! So, when the time comes, I may only need to sell one to allow me to continue moving forward and reinvesting that new found capital into this company!!!

  33. In case you might be feeling a little sorry for Robin Hood, let me remind you:

  34. Are prices today up 8% from a year ago? Yes. Will prices a year from now be up 8% or more from today? No, most likely not. The interest rate hikes are for the second question, not the first. "Transitory" in the feds eyes are on annual scales. If inflation has returned to the 2-4% range by this time next year they will have been correct on it being transitory.

  35. This is called "deflation" and is the defining feature of the Great Depression. It's why inflation is baked in, and the central bank will do absolutely anything to prevent it.

  36. Apes are like the Little Dutch Boy, except instead of trying to plug up the dam we’re like “fuck this dam” and clawing and picking at the cracks.

  37. OMG STOP BUGGING US YOU APES IT WAS A STOCK SPLIT NOT A DIVIDEND WE DID IT ACCORDING TO GAMESTOP’S INSTRUCTIONS CALL GAMESTOP ABOUT IT THOSE SHARES ARE TOTALLY REAL LEAVE US ALONE

  38. I've been saying, we're gonna take a few steps, heads in jars on clunky looking boston dynamic looking ass android bodies is the first step/Mk. 1 to full blown eternal sentient androids with uploading consciousness. Once we get to the like iPhone 7 equivalent generation of human augmentation, we'll start going full galactic expansion species. We just gotta get through this great filter first (capitalism). The searching into macular degeneration and stuff isn't gonna be our forever home, we're gonna tech ourselves into space/immortality.

  39. no actually, is that stellaris though? I always figured we were destined for some kinda future like I described so that would appeal to me.

  40. Mmm. Probably shouldn’t advise you to look into that time sink. Not if you enjoy getting a full night’s sleep.

  41. Because Ryan Cohen won't play ball. He'll fight to the end and exhaust every available option, but he won't yield.

  42. And neither will this fucking shareholder, if I have anything to say about it. And I do.

  43. Yeah, I’m a 1982 kid. We’re now “geriatric millennials.”

  44. ‘78 here. We’re all “Xennials”, or the “Oregon Trail Generation.” We had an analogue childhood and a digital adolescence. Chances are high you knew how to program the VCR and hooked in the Super Nintendo yourself.
