  1. I understand he was an alcoholic but what--aside from that--makes you say that? I know little about his life but have heard many of his lectures.

  2. Well, it's what killed him eventually. I find it a bit disingenuous for a person to say, "Here's a way I think you should live (and oh, by the way, I've never managed to do it myself). Put down the psychedelics once you get the message, and I'll get back to you after I pour myself another four fingers of scotch."

  3. 3Kel says:

Sofia's Doner Kebab in West Jordan, Red Basil in South Jordan, and Bombay Garden in West Jordan, Sauce Boss in Draper.

  4. Let’s say they get rain. Is that proof of the Christian God? The Muslim God? The Mormon God?

  5. Canadian here. Just want to say I think the USA is a wonderful place and that most of you are fantastic kind, wonderful people.

  6. That's been my experience in Canada as well. I've been to most of the major cities now, and I've been treated wonderfully every time.

  7. Stop telling us where various cities are located as if we’re too stupid to figure it out. We know where Paris is. It’s in Texas.

  8. I'm curious why? I know that the arms' distances from the fulcrum would matter; but why the string length? Is there something aside from the weight of the string itself?

  9. It's because of the difference in mass and the torque, but I'd want to actually to do the math before I said anything certain on the last part.

  10. Replying again because I'm still curious 😆 and it seemed like u were on the case

  11. It was less about calculations, and more that I wanted to diagram it. Having done that:

  12. Is he in jail yet? No, you say? Then leave me alone until you've actually got something to cheer me up.

  13. Genuinely, how people can’t work self scans when they’re just giant touch screens with scales attached to the side boggles my mind.

  14. To be fair, if if checkouts and card readers were identical everywhere, people probably would get stuck as often.

  15. Thank you. That's mostly by chance. I started out just filling in the spaces.

  16. They are magnificent. My first intro to humpbacks was through a National Geographic magazine subscription my grandma got me as a kid. One issue had an actual record you could tear out of the magazine.

  17. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THE 4001 BOTTLE

  18. Is it just me, or do the Pelikan inks have an odd smell to them. I just bought this exact black ink and have several of their other colors. It's really only noticeable when I'm refilling. Otherwise, they've been good inks.

  19. Given how many people mosquitoes have killed with malaria alone, this ought to be the top answer.

  20. Last week, I was out standing maybe half a mile from where the shoreline used to be, completely dry. I'd have to measure to be sure, but yeah, it's bad.

  21. What's so bad about Mormons that they can never gain your respect?

  22. There's problem of the Mormon leadership and Utah's government being so brazenly enmeshed.

  23. Nobody does, but wouldn't you rather spend your limited time cherishing your existence than worrying about it ending?

  24. I remember reading something like this, right before death your brain gets crazy active and what you experience feels like an eternity. Assuming you lived a good and fulfilling life you get a nice trip. Vice versa

  25. Unfortunately, there are no credible sources documenting this phenomenon. The amount of DMT produced by the pineal gland isn't anywhere near enough to create that effect.

  26. I saw it. It was a fighter jet. I saw it through my binoculars, but by the time I had them, it was already a little far to see much detail. Seemed like an F-35, but I'm not sure.

  27. Chuck Norris invented the giraffe by uppercutting a horse.

  28. Chuck Norris doesn't tell Chuck Norris jokes. Chuck Norris is the joke.

  29. There are two mycological groups here that do big outings in Autumn. The one for 2022 has passed but they still do smaller trips and are active online. Both of them also support conservation and educate the public about fungi. They are both run by the same guy. The mushroom society of Utah also started this super cool citizen science project where they systematically look through different areas for fungi and submit their observations to iNaturalist.

  30. My family joined the Utah Mushroom Society this year. It's a wonderful group, and I've had a lot of fun with them. We found boletes and chanterelles a couple months ago, and a lovely bunch of ink caps that I actually turned into ink. Found a bunch of other stuff too, but nothing you'd ever want to eat.

  31. You can buy a whole lamb at Costco.

  32. We buy New Zealand lamb for crown roast there once a year for xmas. I'm not a Christian, but it's the one tradition I insist on every year. It also keeps me from going broke or dying early from eating it all the time. Soooo yummy.
