I don't need it, I don't even necessarily want it, but I've got some cash to burn so I'm gonna get it.

Everything is better with a good hug

  1. Plus, there’s a reason they tell you not to make any major decisions until the next day when you’re put under any type of anesthesia. It affects your thinking. Even if he was the type to always put his ring back on immediately and not just a newlywed still getting used to the feel of it on his finger, the anesthesia could have legitimately affected his normal behavior.

  2. Absolutely. Most guidelines state no major decisions or legal paper to be signed for at least 72 hours to make sure it's all out of your system. Even IV sedation or local are included in that because the body still metabolizes the drugs and they are in the bloodstream for that long. And if it's in the blood, you can be dang sure it's in the brain.

  3. First comment on this sub, but cheese and rice, lady, you're a piece of work. Are you sure you're 26, because this sounds like a grade schooler whining about a freaking friendship bracelet.

  4. My Memaw did this. She said it made them creamier and better mouth feel. I just thought it tasted better.

  5. Or refuses to sterilize a woman who asks without her partner or fathers permission

  6. I was 28 yrs old, a single mother with an absentee father and no partner. I was refused a tubal because they told me I might find a husband who would want children of his own so come back when you turn 35. Or have two more children because 3 is the magic number, right? /s

  7. Blurry, I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family. 🌹🌹🌹

  8. What I mean is, if they would die really fast from the pressors running dry, isn’t that going against letting them die a natural death? I’m not talking about antibiotics or blood. Obviously those would be given to treat even if they patient was DNR. I’ve never worked ICU before so I don’t know. I feel dumb for asking.

  9. For Christmas one year, I took three five-gallon ice cream buckets of handmade earrings to my floor in the hospital and let my fellow RNs pick out their 'Christmas gifts' from me. When they were done, I took them to the other three floors and let the staff pick and choose as well. I still came home with two buckets full and a lighter, happier heart-and a better relationship with my colleagues. I recently saw one of them out in public and was pleasantly surprised when I saw she was wearing a pair of my creations.

  10. Legit this is why I am here and the job has already been done so I'm going back to Joe's Garage

  11. Charities are a waste of time. This mess, the whole healthcare system, the entire education system, and all the social safety nets need to be rebuilt from the ground up with an entirely different organization, one that is controlled by the workers. Everything that is not advocating for an overhaul of the entire system is simply delaying the inevitable collapse of the integral components of our society.

  12. I don't know why this isn't getting more upvotes, but take mine and run away with it. I agree totally.

  13. Throws serf out of window with parachute on his back

  14. I have never been given copies of my xrays but mine are not nearly this bad. Ouch indeed. I wish her the best.

  15. Thank you. You have the right to your films as well as readings, all charting and medical records. As mobile as our society is nowadays, I suggest to everyone-obtain your records. Save them to a USB drive. If you travel, take them with you. Prevents confusion and hassles in the future.

  16. Honestly, they may have been thinking surgery until all the scans, bloodwork, and consults were done.

  17. They told me they thought I had pain medication. That hospital is a joke and I wish I could have gone anywhere else.

  18. I get ya, kid. We call our local hospital St Agony. It used to be a good one. Now, not so much. ETA: I posted those pictures on my profile now. They're even worse than I remember. Oh! You might want to obtain a copy of your films and medical record. Easier to get it now than later, plus you'll be able to check drs notes and actually see why they chose this treatment plan over another.

  19. Are those real or paper leaves? Asking because I incorporated real leaves into resin for gifts and they bleached out completely white in less than a year. Even dried leaves will do it.

  20. They are real. Dried and pressed. So far they are holding up. I’ve just started using dried plant material so I really don’t know how they will look after some time.

  21. I thought drying them would solve the problem, but it seems that chlorophyll will denatured even under room lighting. I've tried painting them, inking them, sealing them--but nothing so far overcomes the process of nature and paint and ink look false.

  22. I'm not in the trenches either, but there needs to be a reckoning here. Why pay administrators and chief nursing officers 7 figure salaries when they don't get their hands dirty at all? Put them to work-literally. Have THEM man the desk, talk to patients and family, deal with asshat doctors who treat the staff like slaves.

  23. You cannot be both a hospital administrator and a good person. They are mutually exclusive.

  24. You can't be a good nurse manager and brag that you've never laid hands on a patient and never will no matter how short-staffed you are--but they do. I had one. Worst nurse I've ever had to work with, and I've worked with some doozies.

  25. I'm just going to drop this here so people will see it. Best way to get rid of blood stains pre wash. Wet the spot with cold water and then rub table salt into it and rinse under cold water. You can literally watch the salt dissolve the blood. Sometimes the old ways are the best ways. 😉

  26. For dried blood, hydrogen peroxide works magic. It always kept my scrubs and shoes brilliantly white. Works great on any bloodstains, TBH.

  27. A bush swaying in the wind (or a tumbleweed like in the Westerns) is movement - which of the 3 categories does it fit?

  28. I think it depends on the situation. Are you starving? Is it poisonous? Is it a viable option for a mate?

  29. We just finished a solid year of PT and OT appointments and those were a bit of a relief/change of scenery for me. She hasn't done speech but I will look into that. Anything to be around more people, it's the isolation that is by far the worst. Thank you for the advice

  30. I don't know your situation, but sometimes senior centers have rehab programs as well as respite care volunteers. If she can't be alone, sometimes appealing to a nearby church is an option (I've done this myself), especially if she was a member of the congregation.

  31. These are all excellent ideas and none that I'd thought of. Thank you so much

  32. You're very welcome. I just hope that you can get some respite for the self care that you NEED. I was just reminded the other day that while it may be difficult to be IN the bed, it's sometimes worse to be on the other side of the bed. The caregivers get overlooked too often and their needs aren't taken into consideration. Usually not by anyone.

  33. More Elizabeth! Every episode, her mild insanity makes me love her more. Training butterflies-fucking Huzzah!

  34. My children always thought that I was being mean because I vetted their friends' families before I would allow them to go to their houses. If I got the heebie-jeebies, then they didn't go. Their friends were allowed at my home anytime and frequently were.

  35. First, let me say that it is commendable that you are taking care of your brother. You don't explicitly state his age, but I am assuming that he is older than you.

  36. What about nurses? Allowed 3 sick calls per year, after that you get written up, potentially fired. Sure, have sick nurses care for already compromised patients!

  37. Absolutely. I had a nasty cut on my hand that required stitches and my manager was pissed that the doc put me off work until they were out. She demanded that I work. "Just wear a glove". I refused and lost my job.

  38. Noisy toys are the best! I once bought my nephew a FP bubble-blowing saxophone. Later on, I bought him a drum kit. F my sister, lol

  39. I lurk most of the time, but I'm coming out of the shadows to say this to you.
