  1. NTA with additional thoughts. I'm an older sibling too so I totally get where you're coming from. You gotta remember, it's her life too and if she makes mistakes then that's how she's gonna learn. She probably doesn't want to feel parented by an older sibling and we have to remember to let them live their lives. Check yourself, is most of your conversation advice/potential negative comments? Do you take the time to go "wow cool idea!"? If not, then she sees you as a negative force. Is it ridiculous she's blocked you? Yeah. I would give her some time to cool down then reach out and apologize. Tell her you just wanted to help her learn from your mistakes, but you realize how that might have been really overwhelming. Maybe come up with a code word she can use when she feels you're being overbearing again. You're both adults and you should communicate about your boundaries.

  2. YTA. To be clear, I think it's completely understandable you want her there in the hospital while you're going through a lot. But there are also responsibilities that now fall entirely on her AND a hurricane, so unfortunately, it's shit timing. So it's understandable you're upset, but you are also being an asshole. It's not like her presence will change your outcomes, or make you heal faster, but her presence WILL do good at home AND she's prepping for you to return. A lot of work now falls on her shoulders because of your accident, so maybe be a little grateful.

  3. Is it bad I want to make one of these signs and hang it up with my dick ex roommates number and let them get lambasted by strangers? :3

  4. To be honest, all this sounds kind of creepy, like the beginning of some thriller. NTA. I would be uncomfortable as well

  5. It is expensive yes but everything comes at a cost. Canada has free healthcare but is literally in a healthcare crisis at the moment with extended wait times for even major health complications. In the US you’re basically guaranteed immediate attention when you need it.

  6. Not really true. I've got some health issues that I have to wait MONTHS for an appointment even if they're debilitating symptoms. And I have "good" insurance. A friend got told by her doctor to go to the ER recently, he called and warned them she was coming and should be seen immediately, and she wasn't admitted to ER until 12 hours later, and admitted to the hospital 30 hours after that. Our system is broken too

  7. I basically helped raise my youngest brother and sister because my mother didn’t deal very well with her divorce and parentified me. I really didn’t have any desire to do it again

  8. I raised my siblings too. Knew as a teenager I would never have my own.

  9. 5 years. Was my couples counselor and then my personal. Got me through my divorce and a hell of a three year shit show. She didn't get to see me finish my degree but asked if she could check in to see if I graduated. I wish I could afford her private practice but I just can't. She was so great

  10. That I get paid to light people on fire (legally)

  11. Lottery ticket numbers followed by what to invest in followed by safest country in the world

  12. My cats. They've gotten me through some really rough times. But I just love watching them live their little lives and try to make those lives as happy as possible

  13. Roommates and getting married young which was a mistake but you live and learn. Then more roommates

  14. I'll be 102. TBH, with advances as they are, we might be able to meet up for a drink.

  15. Tell you what. Move it to September 23, 2072. That will be my 100th birthday. I'll buy the beer.

  16. I always take the rest of the day to chill cause I usually feel exhausted afterwards

  17. Lucky there was people there. Kid got eaten by pit bulls down the road from me. I wasn’t there but I was working in the ER when he came in with a pulse.

  18. I've always wondered how you feel interacting with the local study abroad school?

  19. I used to live in Rhotia between Karatu and Mto Wa Mbu while studying abroad. We spoke to the Maasai regularly in our program and I remember discussing the difficult balance of technology and the draw of cities and hired the Maasai when we spent a week in the national parks studying the wildlife. Our Maasai guide actually saved my life and the lives of a couple girls in the middle of the night on the Serengeti when a hunting party of lionesses got way too close. I wonder if I've met you! Ashe!

  20. It is. I posted because they are considering ways to get contractors into the program as long as the work counts.

  21. Any updates? I did the same work as my FTE counterparts, so I would really love if it counted towards my PSLF

  22. Yeah, I'm about to finish my degree and I did successful request a promotion this year at work so I'm hoping these new circumstances will help me get it under control.

  23. But you got out! That is incredible. It’s difficult to leave bad situations, and not everyone is emotionally, or physically able to. I’m really happy for you, and glad to hear things are improving!

  24. Thank you. :) I try to give myself grace for staying as long as I did. Thankfully, I had an AMAZING therapist and I'm very lucky and grateful to have her. She really helped.

  25. I have a fire brand and that shit sucks to heal. Worse than the actual brand as it happens. Also smelling yourself burn is weird.

  26. Man I wish you were my dad growing up. You have done some great work, dad. Maybe you can find new ideas to do? Or don't call it a date anymore, maybe drop the flowers if that embarrasses her, but maybe it's "fancy restaurant night" or "the night we pretend we're spies meeting at a restaurant".

  27. Finances. I've been left with debt from my ex husband that I feel like I will never get out from under. It's bumped back me paying off my vehicle and if student loan payments start again I'm screwed

  28. How much pain I'm in and how annoying it is. How I'd like to sleep through the night.

  29. I used to do this in college. I was so overworked with my full course load and working 2-3 jobs and I stupidly went to a school where I was nothing like anyone else so I severely missed people. So I used to always leave my TV on so I could hear people talking. Except it would backfire when id accidentally leave it on the channel that turned into the paranormal channel in the middle of the night. Waking up to spooky music and sounds and whispering was not helpful lol
