  1. The Odyssey talks about the fall of Troy. Even Helen returns to Menelu and they live happily together. The film omitted Helen's contempt for Paris in Iliad's desire to return to Sparta.

  2. It's been a long time since I read the Odyssey so my memory doesn't help me but I'm confident in saying the fall of Troy is mentioned extremely shortly. And that part of the story, although pivotal in a host of Hellenic myths, is always glossed over in ancient Hellenic material, not just the Odyssey, probably because they thought it was shameful. However, only a small fraction of the ancient Hellenic texts has survived so maybe there was plenty of other material that did delve into the fall of Troy (besides Iliupersis) that was forgotten/destroyed later on.

  3. Helen's changes form just one of the changes I didn't like.

  4. Αll perfectly understandable, it's a matter of taste.

  5. Lmao at all the junk. Consider transitioning o unprocessed foods, infinitely healthier, maybe cheaper too.

  6. I think it's more that people just struggle to see how this would fit into their own lives. If you live in the suburbs and/or somewhere with temperature or weather extremes, which is a surprisingly large proportion of America, it can be difficult how to imagine making this work even if the will is there. Infrastructure will only take you so far, pun unintended.

  7. There's always the solution of moving somewhere else, both inside the US and outside of it.

  8. Not an option for a lot of people. If I could move out to a rural residence and wfh, I would.

  9. Sure. I just mentioned it because it seems to me like a lot of Americans don't even consider immigrating to a different country.

  10. I also have a colleague facing the same issue. Any ideas?

  11. Our users just got fixed. I had this problem around the same time everyone else did. It turned out Exclaimer didn't have a data field filled in on the signatures. Once they added it, signatures returned to normal and the error went away.

  12. So it was fixed automatically? You didn't do some action?

  13. I read the book and watched the film (saw the film first I think) would agree with you that the film is better but it's very rare. The book is amost always better than the film. You can go into much more detail rather than packing a story into 1,5-2h. Only film I can think of that's as good as the book is the Shining, mainly because they changed quite a few things rather than rigidly adapting the book

  14. What do you think about The Mist? Also based on a Stephen King story and in my opinion, the film's brilliant ending puts it far on top.

  15. The british we're famous under German Nazi soldiers to be Gentlemen and treat soldiers and officers with typicall british respect. Do Not If Totally true, but i Heard it multiplr Times while interviewing German Nazi soldiers.

  16. First time I hear of it. It's not binary, it's a spectrum and comparatively to the Germans and the Eastern front in general, the western front was immensely better in all respects.

  17. I personally Interviewed 3 ex soldiers who especially surrendered to the british, in fear of Revenge from the french and hatred from soviets. Maybe north German bias. Im by No means an expert.

  18. There's no need to be an expert. It's common sense that the more someone suffers from an enemy, the more he will hurt his enemy back given the chance.

  19. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.realmadrid.com/en/news/2021/07/14/real-madrid-c-f-closes-the-2020/21-financial-year-with-a-positive-result-of-874000-euros/amp

  20. Isn't that calculated after "excluding the stadium remodeling project" as they say right above the table?

  21. Yes and in my first comment I also said excluding the stadium

  22. Oh, it was a different person before. Anyway, R.Madrid stance of operating on high debt holds on, whether it is due to investments on signings or infrastructure.

  23. I feel like united gets too much flack for the not selling well part, almost every club seems to have a hard time getting rid of unwanted players this window.

  24. Real Madrid has consistently done a good job with sales since Perez took over in 2009.

  25. From what I've read online, I've seen some comments implying the show did take a few deviations from the book with people usually saying to the betterment of the overall story?

  26. The book is one of those "the author did the research, so we are about to learn a metric fuckton about how they used to can food for long voyages" 700 pagers.

  27. Ah the Moby Dick route, you go in expecting a whaling adventure and instead get complex economics of whale oil.

  28. Moby Dick certainly inspired the author, the first sentences in the book is an excellent excerpt, there is a similar chapter where a priest is preaching about Jonah and the whale etc. However, in my mind at least, Dan Simmons took parts of Moby Dick that are useful and appealing to a modern audience so I disagree with your assessment.

  29. Lmao, it was always clear for anyone willing to see.

  30. Έχει δίκιο ξεκάθαρα.

  31. Part of it is also crippling financial debt. The cost to become one ranges from $150 to $420K according to this

  32. Good thing only 4% of humanity lives in USA.

  33. Ozymandias. It's a poem dedicated to a king whose legacy collapsed due to his arrogance and pride. A perfect metaphor for the lives of Walter White and Jimmy McGill.

  34. Allah is God, but Jesus isnt directly God. He is part of the holy trinity though.

  35. Lol what, Jesus is god. God on the other hand is Jesus plus father plus holy spirit.

  36. Most of the Bible was written in mediocre ancient Greek where he is Ιησούς. Dunno how that was pronounced back then but in modern Greek it's something like Eesus (e like emo not like elephant).

  37. Lmao. Have you actually watched young Ronaldo?

  38. That's kinda the issue with their model (and democracy I guess... Yikes)

  39. Do you have an alternative that you consider superior to democracy or you abide with the famous saying "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others." ?

  40. Same, goes for TV shows too. Oh yeah, 6 seasons, you say?

  41. It's a good mindset but I disagree on it being absolute. There are series of books, tv series etc. where the length is worth it.

  42. Disagrees in what way? They considered themselves Hellenes, I am not disputing that. As soon as they self identified as Hellenes instead of Romioi or something else, they were Hellenes or as foreigners in the english language would call them, Greeks.

  43. In the way that they use the two terms interchangeably

  44. The terms Romioi and Hellenes? Yeah, as I said earlier, the transition for some of the Romaioi/Romioi to Hellenes began in 1204 with a slow rate. In the 18th and 19th century this process was at its peak and final stage. Some of them thinking the terms as the same doesn't make the terms themselves the same.

  45. IIRC, he did have a fairly large Luna stake. After the crash, he did say he was going to stick more to Eth and BTC.

  46. Not large. He held like 3-4% in UST and 1-2% in Luna.

  47. U still believe in crypto ponzi scheme shit…. Some people just take longer to learn

  48. Everything can be viewed as a Ponzi, all FIAT currencies like the US dollar, society, humanity in general. People need to believe in it for it to keep going.

  49. Lol they will accept any and all funds donated to them.

  50. "accept" ? You mean steal.

  51. Has there been any country that didn't adopt euro and performed badly? Every economy I know that never adopted euro has performed very well. It's the countries that adopted the euro that is doing poorly.

  52. There have to be, Albania for example was, is and will continue being terrible.

  53. Somewhat stable against the Euro.
