  1. Housepets? Pfft, houseplants. They should just have dinners with the two of them. As both of them are heartless, they would not have to worry about any messy emotions ruining their digestion. YTA.

  2. I wasn't planning for 3. Birth control can fail

  3. If your economic situation is not stable, get your freaking tubes tied. You played Russian roulette with the possibility of getting pregnant and lost. Instead either you or your current husband doing the adult thing, like, oh I dont know, getting another job, you concoct some delusional reasons to get rid of your first child. Then you have the unmitigated gall to wonder why she is upset and if you are an AH. Lady, you passed AH a long time ago. ATA.

  4. I don't want his son to come back. My fiance is acting like he's about to call everything off and my son says my fiance's son is “probably right”, that “guys are better to date” and is mad at me too

  5. I am confused. Sorry for an ignorant question, but if they claim to be bi, doesn't that mean they are open to both males and females? Is the eighteen year old truly not bi and is advocating for your son to do the same?

  6. No, bisexual means that you are attracted to both males and females, regardless if who you choose to date. If you are bisexual, you can decide to date only men, only women, or both.

  7. That makes sense. To be bisexual and to disparage one group you are supposedly attracted to, seems off. In college, I had a friend who said he was bi, but never dated women. Later, he admitted that he only claimed bi, because he didn't want to acknowledge that he was truly gay. Thank you for you input.

  8. The part that annoys me is the fiancé’s parents calling OP and insulting their choice in how they spend their money. I agree a compromise but I think the other family butting in needs to be addressed. NTA

  9. The part that boggles me is they can't afford to get married, but can afford to have another kid.

  10. They can probably afford to get married as the only cost is the license fee. Whenever people say “I can’t afford to get married” I translate to “I can’t afford to throw a party like the kind covered on tv and in magazines.” Of course, none of that is required for marriage, but some people sure think it is.

  11. WTAF, I’m dyslexia and I’m not stupid, I got a first on my nursing and social work degree and believe me that was a lot of essays. It may mean we need extra time for processing but it’s not an instant game so she would have that, you telling her to play with a 12YO is way way WAY out of line and you owe her a massive apology. YTA and I hope she kicks your ignorant ass when you play

  12. He married her when she was 22. He is telling her to go play with a 12 year old. Seems like he thinks her intellect at least is on par with a child. Telling isn't it. YTA.

  13. I don't think the friend needs to worry. She might not pass the tests to get in, bless her heart. NTA.

  14. ARRRGH! I hate it when people are pushing boundaries and you’re polite, and you’re polite, and you’re polite, and you’re polite, and freaking NOTHING CHANGES, and finally you snap, and get blamed for being the asshole… makes me so damn mad, NTA!

  15. "she's bullying my son by calling him a name that isn't his"

  16. I'd make a sign like they do when picking up folks at the airport, with Robin in big letters. NTA.

  17. That was pretty much my thought process. I understand why stAlvis took what they took from my post cause it was just talking about various junk foods, but it's more that I try to eat healthy and if I'm going to have a snack or a something that isn't nutritious I want it to be something I know I like.

  18. I feel the same about the dreaded fruitcake. A neighbor bragged that his fruitcake was different and better. I seriously doubted him. But damn. That cake was delicious. He wouldn't share his recipe, and has since passed away. I am glad I tried it. NTA, your stomach, your choice.

  19. OOP might be in for a rude awakening and the child develops features more from the African side. I feel awful for the baby. And how will OOP explain the African birth mom later, as it appears that she will hide that fact.

  20. When my parents divorced, my mom never spoke against him, no matter what. She allowed us to form our own opinion of him. She would listen to us about why he did certain things if we wanted to vent and helped us process those feelings. We came to see him as a person who loved us, but was deeply flawed.

  21. That’s a nice story but it’s not this story. They have a different situation and it doesn’t make sense to cookie cutter this.

  22. The connection is, letting kids vent about a parent without the other parent instigating it or hyping it up.

  23. You waited until you were already supposed to be at work before calling in sick? In any job, that would be considered unacceptable, and in childcare doubly so. YTA.

  24. eYeah not buying OP's story. I had major surgery last year, and was connected to a morphine drip. I managed to text I was ok. She states in responses that she set an alarm to remind her to text. When she did that, why not just text in then. I am sure she didn't expect a miraculous recovery in time to work. OP, YTA.

  25. I am going to start a line of khaki colored burlap wedding guest dresses. These shapeless blobs will make the prettiest woman blend into the background. Think these oversensitive brides will be happy? The photos might be a bit bland, but the bride will be the star.

  26. Why is it poor form? I always just document drunk moments

  27. NTA - I agree with you. I think it was really underhanded on their part. The hotel may have a trundle bed they can set up for the kid in his parents room.

  28. I can hear the narrative now. Wedding day or the day OP discovered that they were allergic to MIL.

  29. Nah, OP says he gets along with MIL and they didn't have any issues. MIL seems to have sprayed the whole bottle on her on this occasion so....

  30. Yes, I know. I used to sneeze whenever my little sister came around. Some lotion she used. My story was I suddenly allergic to her.

  31. Was just gonna say. Honestly, her grandparents are not doing her any favours taking her side like that. I'm not saying turn her to the streets but she's 21 and if the people around her keep enabling her then her behaviour will just escalate and she could potentially get hurt or hurt other people that will definitely not hesitate to get her arrested. My sister got into hard drugs when I was 13 and began stealing money that was meant for our household needs, harming us and her kids in the process. I had to take care of everyone then so I told the adults about her drug problem but they never acted until she almost OD'd, covered in her own vomit.

  32. I eat meat, but even I don't like liver

  33. Do not engage with Daniel. It could be dangerous for you both. Maybe the Uni needs to be informed. NTA.

  34. OP makes a telling statement. The older brother is noticeably ugly(inside and out). This is not a justification, but if one sibling is much more attractive than another, sometimes this becomes an issue, as people comment constantly on the difference. The older brother then uses his Ph.D., income to try to overcome his insecurity, and the younger brother allows/ignores his brother's snide comments, as he knows the root of them. The older brother needs to come to grips with his problems and stop inflicting trauma on his brother. This is a battle no one wins. The older brother is truly making himself beyond physically unattractive.

  35. Melissa is attending college. Melissa passed the exact same entrance boards that you and everyone else did in order to get into that college. This means that she is perfectly capable of doing the work necessary to get a degree. If she couldn't, she wouldn't have passed the entrance boards.

  36. On other similar posts on AITA about working in groups in academic settings, some people dismiss group work as unnecessary. I think OP's experience was a great example of their benefit, exposing people to things outside their narrow experience and learning how to see others and work with them. I doubt OP would have had such an opportunity if they had not been required to work with Melissa. NTA.

  37. I am a hundred percent certain, that if the girls' situations were reversed, OP would be singing a different tune. Her actions paint her in a very unfavorable light. It doesn't sound if Erin's mother is around, so her dad is covering for that. Erin's decision to go out of state shouldn't be a factor. OP just sounds bitter and has a burr in her knickers about something. She better straighten up faster before her present husband leaves. YTA, thoroughly.

  38. I'm a nurse and an AVID reader of medical journals. There is literally NO condition which requires 90° room temperatures, and unless she has SEVERE E.B. (Epidermolysis Bullosa,) which would be very visible, no condition which does not allow her to get a damn Snuggie.

  39. I have lupus. Extremes in either direction affect me. But I try not to inconvenience others for my issues, especially being too cold. I will wrap myself in a blanket, not making it too warm for others who might be just fine.

  40. My reaction too. And I didn't know velvet was a swim able material. I think I would have cited that as the reason for not using the soiled item. As for insulting them for being poor, hand washing it with a bar of soap wouldn't cost much and doesn't take long. NTA.

  41. Velvet isn't made to get wet. I mentioned that because I guess I should have looked at it closer when she handled it to me, but I didn't. Not everyone's a fabric expert or maybe she didn't care.

  42. I understand. She seems odd. I am sure she wouldn't have appreciated if someone had handed her a soiled, velvet item for her child to swim in. You offered a reasonable solution. I think she got upset because she knew she was wrong and her shame expressed itself as being insulted. Also, I wasn't saying you should have washed it. A good mom would have attempted to wash the item long before she offered it to you. Finally, even a clean, velvet leotard was inappropriate.

  43. You went over to someone’s house and got upset that they needed to eat breakfast in the morning? Like you’re literally mad that someone made coffee and breakfast in the morning and in their own damn house.

  44. If OP wanted privacy, they should have gone to a hotel. Plus, did they leave dishes from the night before? And OP wonders why she is getting the side eye. YTA.

  45. I have rarely called anyone a bitch (out loud) in my life. Something about OP however makes me think it might slip out.
